The four content pillars framework

The simplest content-planning framework we know. Pick four types, rotate them, never stare at a blank page.

The biggest problem in small-business social isn't budget, it's running out of ideas by week three. The four-pillars framework solves that by giving you a structural mix instead of relying on inspiration.

The four pillars

1. Educate

Teach your audience something useful related to your domain. How-tos, mistakes to avoid, myth-busting, explainer threads. This builds authority — the most valuable social currency over time.

Example formats: "3 things I wish I'd known before [X]", a carousel of common mistakes, a before/after explainer.

2. Entertain

Make them smile, laugh, or feel something. This is the pillar most B2B businesses skip, which is why B2B social is usually so boring. Entertainment earns the right to be seen in a distracted feed.

Example formats: a day-in-the-life reel, a meme that lands with your niche, an anecdote from a customer call.

3. Inspire / connect

Show your values, your why, your behind-the-scenes. This is where relationship is built. People don't connect with logos, they connect with people.

Example formats: "why we started this", founder photo with a real caption, a customer story, a values post.

4. Offer

Tell them what you sell and ask for the business. Most small businesses under-do this, afraid of seeming salesy. 1 in every 4 or 5 posts should be a clear offer.

Example formats: product launch, limited-time promotion, testimonial + CTA, "here's how to work with us."

The rotation

A clean rotation is Educate → Inspire → Entertain → Offer → repeat. If you post 4× a week, that's one of each. If you post 2× a week, that's two weeks. The exact ratio matters less than the discipline of varying pillars.

Why this works

Variety prevents fatigue. A feed full of educational carousels feels like a textbook. A feed full of sales posts feels like spam. Rotating the four pillars creates a natural rhythm that mirrors how humans actually want to be marketed to: learn, relate, enjoy, buy.
